Koffie is a cozy, fictitious brand created to resemble Dutch coffee in London and Stratford's new shops in Ontario, Canada.
Objective
To design a fictitious local London coffee shop logo, coffee cup and ‘chalk textured’ illustration bag design that reflects another coffee shop opening in Stratford, Ontario. The coffee cup design was limited to only two Pantone colours and logos and required a pattern, tagline and 3D mockup.  Additionally, a store sign incorporating the logo and brand theme was also required.
Process
I launched a fictitious Dutch coffee brand named Koffie, featuring a simple wordmark logo resembling a top view of a coffee cup. Rooted in my Dutch background, I used the Dutch word ‘Koffie’ for the coffee shop name. Employing dark navy, brown, orange, and yellows to evoke a warm, cozy ambiance, I designed a cohesive look with a repeated coffee logo pattern in various navy blue and orange tints.
For the coffee bag, I used a chalk texture brush in Adobe Photoshop over a black layer to achieve a ‘chalk-textured’ illustration. Sketching possible ideas, I decided to illustrate the new location in Stratford, including the surrounding shops and people inside the building for an inviting brand feel. Utilizing warm yet bright colours like yellows, purples, blues, reds, and orange, I created the coffee bag with a steamy sky effect. The other surrounding shops were toned down in blue, providing a subdued backdrop to the vibrant focus on the Koffie building. Additionally, I included a biker and a businessman holding coffee cups, suggesting they had purchased from the Koffie coffee shop building, in my illustrated sketch on the coffee bag.
During this process, I wanted to achieve a visually compelling and inviting brand using a warm colour palette to represent Dutch style and stunning, creative, and eye-catching design.
